The 365 Photo ChallengeTaking a photo a day is a personal undertaking that given the right attitude, has huge payoffs. Here are just a few reasons why I’ve started the 365 Photo Challenge:
1/365: WisteriaWisteria is a late 'Spring' cousin of the pea familythat often flowers pink, white or lilac (as above) and I have twoyoung vines that beautifullysurround the eastern top deck of our family home. Wisteria is a such graceful flower that I believe, arrives really quickly and leaves all too soon:) 01.10.10

Keen to join me? Here are are a few tips on how you can start your 365 Photo Challenge:
Good Luck with your 365 Photo Challenge:) |
2/365: Shakes a.k.a MilkshakeMeet Shakes - a.k.a Milkshake named by our daughter because of the colours in her 'shagpile' coat. We picked Shakes up from the local petshop and she came with very her own engrained attitude.
Shakes is pictured here beside a potted gerbera that has suprisingly rejuvenated itself this year. Our deck table that she is sitting on desperately needs a new coat of stain. 02.10.10 |
3/365: Foccacia and Herb LoafOne of the nicest 'breads' that we really do enjoy is the foccacia and herb loaf.
This circular styled loaf of bread is easy to pull part, can be grilled and topped with slices of tomato, swiss cheese, pesto and pan fried fish. Foccacia and herb loaf never lasts too long in our house because it's absolutely yummy! 03.10.10 |
4/365: Safety First Nail Clipper for BabyI was once told (many moons ago now) that I'd have to bite my baby's nails when they grew too long. That seemed indespicable at the time.
Thanks to modern technology here is a simple safety first nail clipper for baby. It has a small magnifying glass (for a close view of the nail) and comes as a set with a baby tweezers. Such a cool tool for our bubs:) 04.10.10 |
5/365: Christchurch CathedralThe Christchurch Cathedral is still as magnificent as ever admist Cantrbury experiencing quite a number of earthquakes over the past month. Surveyors are today checking out the cathedral hence a ladder prop that you can just catch a glimpse of..about 5 o'clock from the circular window.
I remember my very first visit here some ten or so years ago. (ULearn Conference: Rangitaiki ICTPD cluster). My children were weeny-boppers then and I felt ever so guilty leaving them at home with hubby. I recall sitting in the chapel writing up a postcard to my daughter. Today we text:^ 05.10.10 |
06/365: Countdown - 2011 Rugby World CupSo in about 48 weeks, 3 days and 41 minutes (according to this oversized billboard at the Christchurch Town Square) New Zealand will celebrate the opening of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Will this international event be a 'good thing' for NZ???
Just before the end of Term we shared this question with a number of nominated students at an IWB training session. Their comments varied and included thoughts about tourism potential, pollution, sustainability and terrorism. No doubt teachers will certainly include the Rugby World Cup 2011 in their classroom planning next year. 06.10.10 |
7/365: Crowne Plaza ElevatorIf you've read the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory then you'll be familiar with 'glass elevators'. There are two that service 12 floors in the Crowne Plaza, Christchurch. Such a great way to travel:)
Christchurch has over the past month experienced a number of earthquakes and aftershakes. So... my three nights at the Crowne Plaza were not pleasant. Can you imagine waking up on the 6th floor in a 12 storey building to feel and watch the room you are in moving slowly back and forth....Scarey:( |
8/365: Teddy and Skype PhoneSkyping is a FREE, very cool way to keeping in contact with family and friends and so the skype phone (pouched in front of this teddy) that I won today, will certainly come in handy at home.
Allied Telesis were practically giving away these nifty tech toys...provided you scored 100 (phone) and 50 (teddy) using 3 darts. Although I use my laptop/cam to skype I am looking forward to seeing how this gadget operates:) |
9/365: HTC TouchOn my way back from Christchurch I met a very young website salesman who spent most of his in-flight time 'playing with' his i-phone. I politely asked him what he thought about the functionailties, practicality and instant connectivity of this device. He answered that during flight time he had replied to 10 e-mails, searched GPS for a hotel, (two-finger) typed his travel report and e-mailed that to his three colleagues.
So...I'm home now and have pulled out the HTC touch phone that Telecom sent me about two months ago. I'm motivated, have dropped the mindset "I can't do this."..and VIOLA...I congratulate myself on becoming a certified touch phone user:) |
10/365: TEN on 10.10.10I'm participating in the http://www.onedayonearth.org challenge and so today being 10.10.10, I snapped ten shots of events that have occurred in my life using a touch phone. This has then been manipulated into ONE shape collage. A brief synopsis of each photo follows:
1. Start the day with a great cup of coffee. 2. The sun beams beautifully over the pond. 3. Wisteria drapes our deck in full bloom. 4. Bacon and garlic mushrooms for breakfast - Yummy! 5. Nylah demands a change and some quality playtime with Nan. 6. Editing hubby's video from the flip mino using my laptop requires effort. 7. I take a well-earned break and read two chapters of my latest recreational find, 'Eat, Pray, Love'. 8. Crumbed fish, mashed potato with cheese and mango salad for dinner - absolutely devine:o 9. The sun is setting - already! 10. Time for a luxurious bath - the perfect end to a fun-tastic day:) |
