Nau mai, Haere mai. Greetings and welcome. This is my voice as a webspace that I've set up to coincide with Connected Educator Month, a 'fantabulous' online event happening here in New Zealand and across the world. It is quite a privilege to join in on the 'ripple effect' that Whatunga Korero-reo so allows ie:collaborating with and sharing alongside the connected voices of like-minded others. Ki tenei roopu, nga mihi nui kia koutou katoa. So I begin this journey by acknowledging that I am proud to be a connected educator from Aotearoa...and this is my story...
Connected Educator Month Launches in NZ...
End of Day Reflection: What did I achieve? I now see the true value of being connected, the benefits of real time video, conversations and online chats. I really enjoyed being part of each webinar, listening to the contributions and celebrating the success of CEM NZ. What I heard today has inspired me to listen to more webinars and I know that my good friend Togi is part of two sessions that I am keen to tune into tomorrow. I am also glad to be back on Manu Korero or Twitter and am ever so feel grateful to my virtual whanau for retweeting, cross-tweeting and keeping me instantly informed. - Day One App entry
Day 2 of CEM Webinars
9.30am I am multi-tasking at the moment as I've joined the MLP webinar this morning but cannot hear Stephen Hepell. It must be my connection. I was very interested in Mark Osborne's korero about MLP and his mention of the five focus questions outlined in the slide shown. 11.30am Connecting Maori & Pasiifika - excellent that this webinar is in Maori and a number of Pasifika languages.
What did I learn? A few key ideas that resonated with me and I quickly scribbled down include: the pathway to leadership is service; relationships are important in order to connect and collaborate (Togi) and 'pull out everyone's magic from within them'. I now think I would like listen to the webinar recordings again as I found 'there was 'so lot of information to digest in such a short space of time'. |
On another a note: My 20's theme outfit has arrived from Aussie - whoop, whoop! It looks interesting. Roll on ULearn conference dinner😝
The 31 Day Starter Kete
The 31-day kit is designed for people who want to understand more about digital technologies, online communities and how to use them in classroom practice.
Every day for a month participants will learn the basics about connecting, creating networks, understanding the lingo (wikis, blogs, hashtags and more) plus how to tell a story using digital tools or use YouTube effectively. I have registered for this event and will have to complete daily activities. Online badges are available as work incentives |
Day 1: Connected Educators and my PLN (Personal Learning Network)
"If you want to be a future focused, connected educator , you must first become a future focused learner. The connected learner Is YOU. To become a connected educator, you must first become a connected learner".
What I THINK makes ME a connected learner?
Reflecting on ULearn 2014
The ULearn Conference provided me with ample opportunity to tweet and connect in real time with other like-minded educators. Here are some of the ideas, images and notes that I wrote or captured.
